Safety Monitoring for Seniors at Home

I had the opportunity to spend some time yesterday with the owners of a local Pleasanton company (S.A.F.T.E. – Safety Alert for the Elderly). The company has created a system that allows our independently capable seniors to remain more safely in their homes, with peace of mind for the senior and the families and/or caregiver.

The SAFTE system works by monitoring sensors within the senior’s home.  Motion detectors, door switches and pressure pads are used to monitor a person’s movement. If a person isn’t detected in a set time period due to the likes of a fall, then the SAFTE system triggers an alarm.  The alarm can be connected to an existing alarm system or an automatic dialer that will call family members and failing that will place a call to 911.

What I really liked about this system compared with other systems in the market place is that there are no monthly service fees, which can add up quickly.  Another plus is that the system doesn’t require that a pendant be worn which the elderly will sometimes forget to wear.

If you have a senior in your life that the “Safety Alert for the Elderly” system may be of benefit to, you can find more information at SAFTEProducts.com or call S.A.F.T.E.  Products at (510) 909-0165.
