The best place for East Bay and Tri-Valley families to pick up their pumpkins for Jack O Lantern carving is definitely Joan’s Farm and Pumpkin Patch in Livermore. This place is a working farm that’s dedicated to family fun and sharing country living with children of all ages.
Located at 4351 Mines Road in Livermore this wonderful attraction features a huge pumpkin patch, farm animals, a petting zoo, a museum of antique farm machinery, horse back riding, gold panning, an Old West ghost town, a giant corn maze and much more. In addition to getting your pumpkin you can make a real fun family getaway out of it. Owner Joan Madsen and her crew invite families to come out for picnics.
The Pumpkin Patch will be open everyday until Halloween to provide area families with lots of unique picture taking opportunities. There will also be some additional activities on the weekends including clowns and face painting for the kids. Organic vegetables are for sale in case mom wants to try her hand at some country cooking.
Kids will be able to explore the corn maze and the Old West ghost town in addition picking out a pumpkin. They’ll also be able to get a close up look at real farm animals and feed them. This makes Joan’s Farm a great family-friendly alternative to those Halloween haunted houses and a perfect October attraction for families with younger children.
If you do go to Joan’s Farm admission and parking are free but you will have to bring cash because Joan does not take credit cards or checks. Joan’s Farm can be reached by taking the North Livermore Avenue Exit on 580 and going south through Livermore. To reach the Farm turn right on Mines Road, the farm is 1.4 miles from Livermore Avenue.
